Marion Agnes Meyers (nee McGinn)
Marion passed on at her home in Burnaby, BC on August 20, 2013.

Marion was born July 4, 1939 in Emyvale, Prince Edward Island, beloved daughter of Dan and Agnes McGinn and treasured niece of Jim and Marion Callaghan.

Most of her early years were spent in Kinkora, Prince Edward Island with Jim and Marion Callaghan, attended Kinkora school, graduating in 1957. She attended St Dunstan’s University and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, moved to Winnipeg and commenced working with the University of Manitoba, then moved to Burnaby, BC to begin a career at Simon Fraser University, retiring in 2004 as Registrar of the Graduate Studies Department.In 1971 she married Douglas Meyers.

Marion is predeceased by her parents, Dan and Agnes McGinn, her special aunt and uncle, Jim and Marion Callaghan and her husband Douglas Meyers, by her brother, Louis, her sister Dorothy and her brother-in-law Russel and is also sadly predeceased by her niece Pamela and nephew Dan.

Marion will be sadly missed by her sister Shirley McGinn of Charlottetown, brother Leo (Isabelle) McGinn of Kelowna BC, sister Patricia McInnis of Winnipeg, brother Brendan (Joan) McGinn of Charlottetown, and sister Katherine (Don) MacCormac of Charlottetown, brother-in-law James Tierney of Charlottetown and sister-in-law Joyce McGinn of Dartmouth and her numerous nieces, nephews and all the people who knew and loved her.

Marion will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, was involved in the lives of her many nieces and nephews known to them just as ‘Auntie’, was faithful to her family, her friends and her church. Hours were given to volunteering at the foodbank, assisting with young families.She followed hockey and wouldn’t miss a game, particularly if her beloved Vancouver Canucks were playing, had a passion for the well being of animals and especially loved her pomeranians.

Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home for visiting hours on Monday, September 16th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 17th with funeral mass from the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer at 10:00 a.m. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the PEI Humane Society or a charity of choice.
