George Wallace Scantlebury

1932-2023

George Wallace Scantlebury

Please join us on Saturday, June 3rd to celebrate the life of our amazing dad, grandfather, great- grandfather, father-in-law, friend, George Scantlebury. As per Dad’s wishes, there will be an opportunity to greet the immediate family at 1pm with funeral services at 2 pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Richmond Street, Charlottetown. Please come dressed as bright as you like! We will be! J. Dad’s greatest joy was his family and in lieu of flowers, we encourage anyone wishing to do so to make donations to an educational fund established for his two beloved great-grandchildren. Donations can be made through the Hennessey Funeral Home.

We were so blessed. Dad definitely lived by his own terms which meant having a strong moral compass, a joy for life, love for his family, an incredible commitment to his business family, his community and his church and the smartest thing he ever did (by his own admission), marrying his soul mate, June as soon as she turned 18! A natural athlete, a creative, a genuine ham with a love of being center stage, a singer, a historian, a storyteller, a mentor, Dad loved to laugh and had a wealth of knowledge that he willingly shared. Many have been touched by his generosity, his energy, his love, his willingness to help get the job done. Dad was a visionary and with Mom’s full support, he has left the world a much better place.

Dad will be so very, very missed by son Jim, daughters Joanne and Jennifer, sons-in-law Brian, Rejean and Waldo, grandchildren Meghan, Ryan and Frank, Gabriel and Mireille, Simone and James, great-grandchildren Dylan and Keeley, sisters-in-law Edna Mae, Deanna, Carol and Marilyn, brother-in-law Bob and numerous cousins and good friends. He has finally joined his most beloved June, as well as parents Wallie and Rebe, brother Roy and nephew Jeffrey.

This incredible era of our lives has ended and we are all heart broken.

Completion of arrangements have been entrusted to the Hennessey Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.islandowned.ca
