"Florence" Kathleen Maddocks (nee Acorn)

Born on June 20, 1925 in Forest Hill, PEI
Florence died peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown on Saturday, May 21,2022 at the age of 96 years young,( just one month shy of her 97th birthday), as a result of complications from a fall and other ailments.

Florence was the cherished wife of the late William (Bill) Maddocks. 1979

She is deceased by her parents, Rueben Acorn and Annie( nee MacDonald) as well as her sister &
brothers Miriam (Good), William Acorn & Alexander Acorn. Nieces Judy & Naomi & nephews Barry, John Carl, & Lornie. She is survived by sisters Hazel McCall (Ireland), Norma Morris (PEI) & Hilda Ross (Cape Breton). Aunt Flo is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces – Marion, Donna, Debbie, Faye, Joan, Margaret, and nephews Gary, Brent, David, Ted, Stewart, Blair, Robert & Ruben. As well as many Grand Nieces and Nephews and Friends Shirley & Evelyn.

Florence worked at Shell Oil Co. in Toronto for 15 years before moving back East in 1988, first to Cape Breton and then to Charlottetown where she resided since 1999.

Florence was a kind, gentle soul known for her sharp mind and quick witty humour. She had a passion for camping, exploring and collecting minerals, making home crafts & scrapbooks, international travels, walks on the beach & beachcombing, any type of wildflower, drives around the shores of our beautiful Island, perfecting many souffles & bread puddings, meticulous penmanship and a good cup of her fresh morning coffee.

Florence will be resting at Hennessey Cutcliffe Funeral Home at 33 – 35 Longworth Ave. Charlottetown, PEI with visitation on Wednesday, May 25th from 7 – 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 26th at 3:00pm officiated by Catherine Dickson. Interment to follow at the Old Dundas Acorn Cemetery in Dundas, PEI.

Many thanks to all those that helped Florence in her final days, including friends in her apartment building, the paramedics that took her to the hospital, her Emergency Physician and Surgeon, all the staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital who provided exceptional care & kindness. As well as her family physician, Dr. Jason Thompson, along with Home Care nursing staff and Meals On Wheels Volunteers prior to her admission to hospital.
