Mary Irene King

The death occurred at her home on Prince Street, Charlottetown on April 13 , 2015 of Irene King in her 92nd year. She was predeceased by her husband, Vince in 1996. Irene was the daughter of Joseph Benjamin Arsenault and Rose Mary Arsenault (Doucette). She was predeceased by brothers and sisters Lorne, Gus, Mang, and Evelyn. She is survived by sister Mary and her husband Vince Darrach (Halifax).

Irene is survived by her four children: son, Frank (Francis Lorne) of Charlottetown, granddaughters Jessica of Toronto, ON and Cristine, her partner Shawn Wilde of Kingston, ON, great grandsons Jake and Logan; son, Paddy (John Patrick Owen), his wife Sharon (Cameron) of Dartmouth, NS and Brackley Beach PEI; daughter, Rosemary (Rosemary Jean), her husband Jonathan Wort of Upper Stewiacke, NS, and grandchildren John, his partner Kaley Smith, great granddaughter Emma of Upper Stewiacke, NS, granddaughter Sarah, her partner Kyle Welsh of Upper Stewiacke, NS; son, Ted (Vincent Edward), and his wife Bev (Trueman) of Woodtock, NB and Argyle Shore, PE and granddaughter Jillian, her husband Austin Korgan of Halifax, NS and grandson Patrick of London, ON

Irene worked for many years with the Motor Vehicle Branch of the PEI government and was an active volunteer with Scouts Canada as a Cub Leader with the 1st Charlottetown Pack. Irene was also actively involved with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Charlottetown Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion where she served as President of the Auxiliary and in countless other positions.

Paddy, Rosemary and Ted would like to thank brother Frank for the wonderful care he provided for our mother over the past 12 years. Frank would like to thank Dr. David Stewart, Cornwall, Murphy’s Pharmacy, Parkdale, PEI Home Care and PEI Palliative Care for their support.

By request, there will be no visitation. A private family service and interment will occur at a later date.

Memorial donations in memory of Irene may be made to the Salvation Army.
