Alan Wilfred "Smelt" Gillis

Peacefully at Hillsborough Hospital on Friday, March 6, 2015 of Alan "Smelt" Gillis of Charlottetown age 78 years.

Beloved husband of Bernie (nee LeClair) and dear father of Alan (Lee), Mark (Karla) and Sonia (Paul) Lidstone. Loving grandfather of Brittany (Mike) Lessmeister, Brooke Griffin, Rhandi (Matt MacMillan), Ryan Lidstone, Ella Gillis, Lauren Kelly and great grandfather of Aubree Lessmeister. Brother of Arlene Gillis, Brenda (Ben) Boss, Judy Chipman and David (Adele) Gillis. Brother-in-law of Mary (James) MacDonald. He was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Margaret (Bradley) Gillis and his sister Joan Newell.

Smelt’s family would like to thank the staff of Unit’s 3 and 5 of Hillsborough Hospital for the excellent care given to him.

Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Unit 5 of Hillsborough Hospital.
