Thomas Patrick (Tom) Garvey
1939-2015
It is with sadness that we, the family of Thomas Patrick (Tom) Garvey, announce his passing. Tom passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 6, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1939 and is predeceased by his parents, Thomas Garvey Sr. and Julia Gannon, both of Pennsylvania. Tom was the much beloved husband of Marilyn Gay (Howieson). Tom and Gay spent 47 years together, and although the last years were often tough, their love always endured. Tom is lovingly remembered by his children: Michael, Fort Lauderdale Florida, Theresa (Jeff) Campbell, Ottawa ON, Anne Marie (Nelson) Valois, Stratford PE, Patrick (Angelica), Florida Keys and Kevin (Amanda), Bethel PE. Tom was happiest when surrounded by family, especially his grandchildren. They were the "apples of his eye": Lauren and Julia Campbell, Madeleine, Sam, Matthieu, Chloë and Théa Valois, Steven Andrade, Ana and Zoe Garvey and Jonah Garvey. Tom is also survived by his brothers Joe (Janina), California, John (Pandora), Pennsylvania and his sister Mary Ann (Elmer) Chestnut, Pennsylvania.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Monday morning, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Sherwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
If so desired, memorial donations can be made in Tom's name to the Oncology Unit of the QEH.
