Mrs. K. Gaylene Smith (nee McGuigan)

Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, June 14, 2012 of Katherine Gaylene Smith (nee McGuigan) of Charlottetown, age 61 years.

Beloved wife of Ronald J. Smith, and loving mother of Patricia “Trysh” (Sam Dixon) and Andrew Smith. She is also survived by two grandchildren Patrick and Anna “Double Trouble” Smith, brothers and sisters Harry (Eileen Cheverie) McGuigan, Bernadine (David) McGregor, Eleanor (Paul) Gauthier, Leonard “Barney” (Brenda) McGuigan, Judy (Gerry) Connick, and Alan (Charmaine) McGuigan, mother-in-law Kathleen Smith, brother-in-law Robert (Terry) Smith, sisters-in-law Cathy (Teddy)Smith and Patricia (Burlin) Griffin, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Grace (Hughes) McGuigan, sister Frances Dougan, and nephew Ronnie Joe MacDonald.

Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 Monday morning then transferred to St. Pius X Church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment later in the family plot at The Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.

If so desired memorial contributions in Gaylene’s memory may be made to the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre or the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home.
