"Sonny" Dwight Gauthier

1959-2020

"Sonny" Dwight Gauthier

Peacefully at home on September 16th, "Sonny" Dwight Gauthier of Rustico, in his sixty-second year. Loved always by his wife Vicki Reddin-Gauthier, his daughters Laura (Brad Fremlin), Mikaela (Joseph French) and Rose (Kenneth Buck) and his good little buddy Ollie. Lovingly remembered by his mom Bernice, brothers and sisters Wayne, Gary, Blythe (Kathy) and Ivan (Wendy), sisters Sheila and Pam (David Doucette), many aunts and uncles, cousins, the Reddin family and the many young people who called him Uncle Sonny. His big smile and helpful ways will be missed by the fishing community of North Rustico, Cymbria Lions Club, and many friends and neighbors. Special thanks to Dr. Tiffany Townsend, Dr. Anne MacDonald, Dr. Kiley O’Neill, Dr. Vimoj Nair and Dr. Robert Adams.

Our deepest gratitude to Lionel Gallant, Paul Druet, the wonderful respite nurses and staff at Queens Home Care, and everyone who has been in his corner with us since he was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer in 2014. We also wish to thank Catherine and the dedicated staff of Unit 1, who were there for him at the beginning and at the end.

The Come Back Kid, who defied the odds for so long, has fought his last round and is now at rest. A kind and gentle soul, we will sing him back home with invited friends and family at a private service that will be held at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home Chapel and will be available for viewing via live stream on Friday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m.

Donations to the Queens Home Care Palliative Care would be appreciated. On-line condolences can be made through Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home at www.islandowned.ca
