Mary Olive "Ollie" Lund (nee Doiron)

1931-2020

Mary Olive "Ollie" Lund (nee Doiron)

Mary Olive "Ollie" Lund (née Doiron) left this world on 11 September 2020 at the age of 89. The daughter of Joseph and Alvina Doiron, she was born on 3 May 1931 in Charlottetown. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles, and seven grateful children: Nancy (Ray Postma), Joe (Monique), Charlie (Jess), Deb (Jim Lavers), Don (Pat), Sheila (Ed MacDonald), and George. She was devoted "Nanny" to 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Sr. Eileen, CND, Dub (Lorne Allen), and Lin (John Savidant), and by her brother Edgar. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Gilbert, and sisters Marg and Doris (Dot).

An Air Force wife, Olive made many homes before settling in St. Eleanors and then retiring back to Charlottetown. She was active in her community, volunteering at the QEH in the chaplaincy program for many years, and was a member of the CWL. She also served as a Cub, Brownie, and Guide leader and was elected to the Unit 2 school board. She loved music, both listening at home and attending concerts and ceilidhs, and she liked nothing more than to be out and about with family wherever there was life and laughter. She put great effort into making happy memories for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In later life, she became an avid line dancer and enjoyed painting and playing bridge at the Seniors Active Living Centre. But most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and Nanny, who made our world so much better just by being who she was.

Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home. Family visitation only because of pandemic restrictions. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and will be live streamed for public viewing on Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m.
