M. Patricia Bradley
1927-2019
Surrounded by her family’s love, Patricia Bradley of Millcove passed away peacefully at Whisperwood Villa July 20, 2019. Much appreciation for the care and comfort provided by Whisperwood staff.
Born in Glenfinnan, PEI, on July 28, 1927, she was the daughter of Alban and Mary (nee Connick) MacDonald. Patricia was predeceased by her husband Louis Bradley; her sister Helen (Tom) Turner and great grandchild Noah Mullen.
Left to mourn are her children Gerald (Mona
– deceased), Beth (Walter) Mullen, Mary (Darwin) Bradley,
Helen (Robert) Wellman, Anita Bradley, Jean (David) McKinnon, Patrick
(Lynne) Bradley, Florrie MacLeod, and John (Farley) Bradley.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild: Jennifer (Nigel) Bradley; Jonathan and Brad
(Courtney) Mullen, Rachel (Craig and baby Hannah) Richenback; Kathryn
Woods; Sophie (Kris) and Frank Wellman; Charlie McKinnon; Justin
(Sarah Jane) and Gregory Bradley; Ella and Anna Mae MacLeod;
sisters-in-law Mary Peters (Phillip) and Helen Bradley; and son-in-law
Mark MacLeod.
Patricia received her early education in a
one-room school at Glenfinnan and obtained her teacher’s
license from Prince of Wales College in 1946. Inspired by her father
and grandfather she was dedicated to life-long learning. She married
Louis Bradley in 1951. Together they farmed and raised a large family
in Millcove. Patricia also taught for many years at various schools
around the Island retiring in 1991 from Stonepark School. Her faith,
hope, and love manifested itself in her dedication to family,
community and church. She was a devoted member of the Catholic
Women’s League and was choir director/organist at Corran Ban
parish for over 60 years. Patricia took great pride in her Celtic
heritage and was an active member of the Scottish Historical Society.
At the age of 86 she journeyed to Scotland where she visited her
ancestors’ homeland, and celebrated her 87th birthday in
Glennfinnan, Scotland.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Wednesday, then transferred to St. Michael’s Church, Corran Ban for funeral mass at 4 p.m. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7
p.m.
The Corran Ban CWL will hold a prayer service on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
