Mary Jeanette Driscoll
1922-2018
The death occurred peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018,
in the arms of her loving family, of Mary Jeanette (Rossiter) Driscoll
of Charlottetown, aged 95, at the Mount Continuing Care
Community.
Mary was the dear wife of Wilfred and beloved
mother of Ellen, Monica (Mark Ledwell), Mary (Bill Simmons), Christine
(Russ Mallard) and Madelyn (Alan Pickard).
Mary (Nanny)
will be lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren: Lauren
Ledwell (Nathan Snowie), Kathryn Ledwell; Emily Mallard (Kevin
Robinson), Jonathan Mallard, Ellen Mallard and Anna Mallard; by her
sister Genevieve (Toddy) Ryan (Aquinas, deceased); by brother-in-law
Lawrence Driscoll (Libby); sisters-in-law Joan Driscoll (Bob,
deceased), Bernadette Driscoll (Fred, deceased), and by many beloved
nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her parents,
Ed and Irene (MacAdam) Rossiter, sister Helena (Stuart McEwen,
deceased), brothers Jack (Peggy O’Hanley, deceased), Father
Joe, O.M.I., brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Marie
Driscoll, and precious grandson Christopher Driscoll.
In
her professional life, Mary was a teacher and later obtained her R.N.
degree from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing, class of
1951. Mary took great pride in her nursing vocation. She
served for many years at the Charlottetown Hospital, the Charlottetown
Clinic, and The McGill Centre, and was also the Director of the PEI
Nurses Registry.
Mary lived a full life, rich in faith and
filled with purpose. A model wife, mother, and grandmother,
Mary’s family meant everything to her. Her
kindness, wisdom, keen wit, and beautiful smile will be dearly missed.
Her remains are resting at the Hennessey
Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home with visiting hours on Monday,
February 19, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at
St. Dunstan’s Basilica on Tuesday, February 20, at 10:00 am.
Interment later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the QEH and to
the staff and special caregivers of the Mount, who lovingly cared for
Mary. We extend our special gratitude to the Sisters of
Saint Martha, whose love, prayers and spiritual support sustained us

Members of the Nurses Alumnai, Charlottetown Hospital will
hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:30
p.m.
