Ruth Fraser Shankle
1925-2017
Ruth Fraser Shankle passed away peacefully at Whisperwood Villa, aged 92, on September 19, 2017. For many years a dedicated and well-respected medical secretary at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Saint John, NB. A great lover of animals, animal welfare was one of her passions. A great lover of movies, especially those starring Roy Rogers and hometown native Walter Pidgeon. Predeceased by her infant sister Annie May, and by her parents, Julia and Calvin Shankle. Survived by her cousin Doris Ingraham of Dumfries, NB and by her life-long friend and companion Edna Power of Charlottetown. Special thanks is extended to the dedicated staff of Whisperwood Villa and to Ruth’s many friends and caregivers from Home Instead PEI.
Funeral service will be held at the Kirk of St. James on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment later in the Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Saint John, NB.
No visitation by personal request.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kirk of St. James, Charlottetown or to the PEI Humane Society.
