Peacefully at his home in Charlottetown on Sunday, January 24, 2016 of Rupert Chandler of Charlottetown, Veteran of the Second World War, age 91 years.

Beloved husband of the late Frances (McAleer) Chandler, and dear father of John Murray (Linda), Michael (Alison), Margaret Chandler, Allan (dec) (Beryl), David (dec) and Pamela MacNevin (dec) (Darrell dec). Loving Grampy to Mark and Ryan Chandler, Roberta and Jason MacNevin, Mike Chandler, Gregory, Robert and Danielle Chandler and Great Grampy to numerous great grandchildren. Special Uncle to Mary Chandler and Sylvia Thistle. Rupert was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being predeceased by his parents Richard and Melinda (Gallant) Chandler, and siblings George, Sandy, Priscilla, Helen, Ernie, Florence and Wallace.

Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Thursday morning, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Charlottetown Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a veterans tribute at the funeral home on Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Rupert may be made to the P.E.I. Humane Society or a charity of choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.islandowned.ca.
